Build and Expand an Evil Empire in Dungeon Overlord, Playable Now on Facebook

Sony Online Entertainment and Night Owl Games invite Facebook users to explore their inner thirst for world domination with the new game, Dungeon Overlord. Playable now on Facebook, Dungeon Overlord is a quirky, massively multiplayer online strategy game encouraging players to take on the role of a villainous dungeon overlord to build an evil lair and create an empire bent on conquering everything in its path.

The Evil Lair: Beginning in an underground pit of lava, players must craft a dungeon to begin their quest for world domination. To help players gain power, the dungeon can be mined for valuable minerals.
Attract an army of minions and put them to work building, customizing and defending the lair. Established domains will need to be defended against looting overlords and conniving heroes who can hinder even the best laid plans for accumulating power.

The Expanding Empire: Every evil overlord grows tired of their current possessions and thirsts to expand their reign. When players have built up enough power, they can venture out of their underground domain to raid neighboring villages for resources and treasure. With sufficient resources, players can establish additional dungeons in their expanding empire.

Play with Friends: Even the strongest villains need help sometimes! Team up with allies by assisting with their dungeon maintenance and defending them against attacks. Work with friends to conquer new dungeons and take control of valuable resources, or battle against them in player versus player combat to establish who reigns as the most powerful overlord.

Dungeon Overlord is available now on Facebook at http://apps.facebook.com/dungeonoverlord/

Avalon Heroes: huge update for the most wonderful time of the year

December 16, 2010 · Filed Under News, Online, RPG, Strategy · Comment

On December 22, publisher burda:ic will release the biggest patch in the history of the free-to-play online RTS RPG highlight.

Is it Christmas already? Not quite, but the free-to-play game Avalon Heroes will indeed be bringing the big day forward this year – by several days! Fans of the online RTS RPG will receive a superlative update on December 22: two quick-witted heroes, an improved guild system, the game modes “Elimination” and “Deathmatch”, plus many smaller updates, as well as plenty of yuletide spirit. Thus, Avalon Heroes is really cranking it up toward the end of the year, and is sure to have strategists and role-players alike glued to their screens.

Fighting for honor and glory here is just pure enjoyment! The new “reconnect system” being introduced on December 22 for the first time allows hero and game data to be saved, enabling players to reconnect to matches they started previously. The guild system will also be completely overhauled: The “guild war system” in battle mode will allow extra EXP to be collected; the “guild benefit system”, reminiscent of a popular MMO system, holds additional rewards in store for successful guilds. Moreover, there are two brand-new game modes to discover. In “Elimination”, the team still standing after 25 minutes of playing wins. In “Deathmatch”, on the other hand, the aim is to defeat more heroes in a given period of time than the opposing team.

However, no Avalon Heroes update would be complete without new heroes! There is Humbaba, an exemplary melee fighter capable of taking on several enemies at once. Or you might prefer Rukselam, whose HP and defense stats are excellent. Whichever of these two heroes a player might choose, collecting and mastering the skills of these unique heroes is about to become more motivational than ever, as the plaza market is resplendent in white, and new costumes will almost allow certain heroes to pass for Santa Claus on the battlefield.

Avalon Heroes is free to play! The games client is available for free download at www.avalonheroes.alaplaya.net/download.

Tibia major game update released

December 13, 2010 · Filed Under MMO, News, Online · Comment

Tibia, one of the oldest MMORPGs worldwide, is facing its annual winter update. The major game update consist both of map enhancements and feature additions.

The most exciting addition is without any doubt the introduction of mounts. For the first time in Tibia’s 13 year old history, players are now able to choose between several creatures (i.e. midnight panthers, war bears, etc) which can be tamed and ridden. More mounts are already planned and will be introduced with future updates.

For Tibia’s community, map enhancements have always been an important and inherent part of every new update. This time, two big free-to-play areas (Kazordoon, Outlaw Camp) have been completely overhauled and polished.

In addition, many new world quests have been introduced with this winter update, which will all be launched during the course of next year. World quests are time consuming challenges, which can only be mastered if many players of one game world work together in a coordinated and peaceful manner – sometimes for many days in a row.

As usual, the update is accompanied by the introduction of new items, spells achievements, quests and many more.
